Refuse to accept non Britannia 50p coins
This is not as awkward as you may feel.
When being given change in a shop or a bank and you are given a new 50 pence coin without Britannia on the face, just smile and politely say “can you exchange this for two twenties and a ten, please”.
No need for confrontation or embarrassment!
Simple, yet effective.
